Rio Ferdinand to miss England's Friendly Against Egypt due to Injured problem

The United manager confirmed to reporters at his press conference today that the England defender had suffered a "twinge" in his back that was set to keep him out of action for a fortnight or so. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has today confirmed that Rio Ferdinand will not be available for England's friendly with Egypt next week as his difficulties with a back injury continue.

Perhaps more crucially, as far as United fans are concerned, he will probably also be absent for the second leg of the Red Devils' Champions League tie with AC Milan on March 10. Ferdinand will also miss Sunday's League Cup final against Aston Villa at Wembley.

United's captain has been niggled by injuries in recent times, perhaps contributing to his Castrol Ranking of only No.318 - behind fellow Old Trafford defenders Nemanja Vidic (47), John O'Shea (136), Patrice Evra (156) and Jonny Evans (197).
